The Cooking Zine - Tomorrows Menu:
A zine bringing a sustainable relationship with food through the knowledge and choice to break down barriers in eating and provide a deeper appreciation for the food we eat.

When people need to eat they will choose a convenient and fast meal over choosing to eat what they will enjoy. Often when eating in western culture people won’t appreciate what they are eating. This has built up a bad relationship with food as it is seen as a means to an end. However food can be anopportunity to celebrate flavours and the enjoyment of eating good food together.

So I started to look at the current state of the food industry, I found a culture of consumption with fast food dominating what we eat and a lack of knowledge on food origin. I found that there were too many barriers to more sustainable eating and it seemed to be an all or nothing culture.

Using the brief title I created a cooking zine called tomorrow’s menu with recipes for good food but much more than that. The zine will give the reader an understanding of where they are getting their ingredients from and will provide recommendations for more sustainable ingredient options without compromising taste. In addition to this the zine is designed with conscious disposal in mind being printed using vegetable inks and on seeded paper, giving it a secondard use.
